  We bought 8 "hens" from her. She claimed (90% sexing accuracy) So far she is at 75% and counting (we have 2 others that are a month younger than our recently crowing roosters)...
  
  We definitely believe in supporting our local businesses but there are limits, buyer beware! The birds, food, water and heat lamp we bought were way, way overpriced (She charges up to a 10x premium).
  
  Last week our Cockoo Marans hen, the family favorite started crowing at 13 weeks or so. My wife, 5 & 6 year old daughters were in tears that he had to go due to the city ordinance against roosters. We did some more research on our bird and tried to figure out the sex ourselves. We learned in our online research that Cockoo Marans are one of the easiest birds to sex. She sold us her last cockoo "hen" for $20. I brought cockoo to the local feed store to positively sex my bird prior to getting rid of it and learned they sell Cockoo Marans for $2.5 per chick.
  
  Within a week our Polish Golden lace we paid about $20 for started to crow as well. We sold him to a local feed store for $5. Their chicken expert commented that we really got ripped off given what we paid, his opinion is it was not even a decent quality rooster, it was no where near show quality. A show quality bird should still be less than what we paid.
  
  They clearly order their eggs online and are likely paying very little given $2.5-$3.5 is about the retail price of a better breed bird than what she sold us. This is very obvious because she does not have that many species of birds on her property.
  
  All though we will never purchase hens/food/equipment from her again, to be fare, she gets 4 + stars on her advice/info on on all things chicken.
